“At Exchange Bank, we believe strong communities begin with strong foundations—and that starts with safe, affordable housing,” said John Childs. “Carter Crossing will not only provide stability for families, but it will also strengthen the local economy for years to come. We’re proud to support a project that creates lasting impact in Putnam County.”

Building a Stronger Community, One Home at a Time
At Exchange Bank, we believe that strong communities are built on a foundation of compassion, opportunity, and partnership. That’s why we’re proud to support the Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County and their newest development, Carter Crossing—a 30-lot affordable housing project named in honor of President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter.
This transformative project is more than a neighborhood. It's a long-term investment in the people and future of Putnam County, Georgia.
To help bring this vision to life, Exchange Bank has pledged $5,000 to fund one of the lots in the Carter Crossing development. On behalf of the bank, President and CEO John Childs, along with members of our team, recently presented the first installment of the pledge to Murali Thirumal, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County. The final installment will be made in January 2026.
Why Affordable Housing Matters in Georgia
Projects like Carter Crossing directly address the critical need for affordable housing in Georgia, especially in growing communities like Putnam County.
